ZOLA Electric, an emerging market energy technology company, has announced the successful launch of the first-of-its-kind, distributed mini-grid.
The 120kWp solar mini-grid project, installed in the agricultural villages of Gakagati I and II in Nyagatare, Rwanda – the country’s largest and second most-populous district – will deliver clean, affordable, reliable power to over 1,000 homes, businesses, schools and clinics.
After a ten-month, three-phase rollout, the grid went online on 30 September 2022.
