AFUR’ S work in tariff regulation in the mini-grid market

Since April 2021, the African Forum for Utility Regulators (AFUR) has been on a journey with key stakeholders within the mini-grid market. Our jourmey has been to see how best to achieve SDG7 without placing further pressure on often exhausted budgets.

This journey has seen AFUR, together with its partners, the Africa Minigrid Developers Associa tion (AMDA) with the support of UK aid via the Transfo rming Energy Access (TEA) platform come up with an Enhanced BETA Tariff Tool for the mini-grid sector.

This tool has been developed to support the standardisation of the way that mini-grid tariffs are calculated by energy regulators.
