The standalone mini-grid is a 78kWp, ground mounted solar PV system with 324kWh of battery bank storage.It uses Ulica solar modules, Alpha ESS inverters and lithium-ion batteries.
A remote monitoring system using the Alpha ESS was installed to provide real-time
information about the system.
The mini-grid will benefit more than100 people in the communities, schools and medical institutions. The PV mini-grid serves as a model for replication and scalability across Chad and beyond.
According to the International Energy Agency,Chad has an electrification rate of 8%.The country has 30% electricity access target by 2023 and up to 53% by 2030, with a 20% rural access target by 2030.
